VITIS Wine Bar & Bistro
A new wine bar has opened in the downtown Core district of Singapore called VITIS Wine Bar & Bistro, designed by Emma Maxwell Design PTE Ltd.
It has a rather beautiful interior, designed to promote Asian wine makers and Asian wines.
Every detail of this space reflects the richness and beauty of Asian viticulture, creating an immersive experience where sensory and visual elements intertwine.

Inspired by the refined craft of winemaking, the design at Vitis captures the textures and landscapes that shape this ancient art.
Solid spotted gum timber is used throughout the floors, walls, and ceilings, enveloping the space in a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Meanwhile, tables crafted from sustainably sourced Kahya timber, fallen naturally in Singapore, add a layer of eco-conscious refinement to the experience.
The tactile quality of Vitis is further elevated by handmade Japanese stitched paper wall coverings, paying homage to the intricate craftsmanship that unites wine and design.

Deep sage green leather banquettes echo the vegetal notes found in fine wine, while the bold Temperley of London print on the dining chairs introduces a vibrant complexity, reminiscent of the rich tasting notes of the perfect glass of wine.

A striking visual centrepiece is the mirrored ceiling, adorned with suspended pendant lights fashioned from solid crystal spheres.
This feature doesn’t merely decorate the room but transforms it, enveloping guests in a shimmering ambiance that evokes the sensation of being submerged in champagne.
At the heart of Vitis lies the tasting counter, a sculptural masterpiece designed by Emma Maxwell.
The counter, crafted from a monolithic slab of Orinoco granite, is an artful nod to the topography of Asia’s wine-growing regions.
The dramatic swirls of gold and copper against a deep, dark backdrop not only serve a functional purpose but also create a bold visual statement, paying tribute to the cultural and natural influences that inspire Vitis.

For guests seeking a more intimate and luxurious experience, the private dining room offers a secluded escape.
The walls, adorned with textures that evoke landscapes and wine tasting notes, create a refined, immersive atmosphere where guests can fully savour the experience in elegant privacy.
Vitis transcends the conventional boundaries of dining and drinking.
It invites guests on a carefully curated journey that touches on the art of Asian winemaking and interior design.
Every element – from the choice of materials to the standout design features -encourages exploration of the craftsmanship behind both wine and design, leaving guests with a deeper appreciation for the art that defines Vitis.

Designer Emma Maxwell has offices in London and Singapore and has completed projects across the globe.
As a studio the focus is on blending creativity with functionality.
The design team considers the guests experience, how they interact with the space and how it makes them feel.
Every element, from the choice of textures to the play of light, is thoughtfully curated to create environments that are aesthetically driven but also engaging and meaningful.
Vitis provides the perfect example of this approach.
Their approach extends beyond the design team to a global network of artisans and fabricators.
Together, they craft custom-designed furniture, sculptural installations, and bespoke finishes that bring each project to life.
These handcrafted elements ensure that no two spaces are alike and give each project its own distinctive character and soul.
