The Emory, Knightsbridge
Maybourne, operator of London’s most legendary and prestigious hotels Claridge’s, The Connaught and The Berkeley, announces a new addition to the group with the opening of The Emory, its fourth hotel in the capital.
The Emory, a modern architectural masterpiece designed by the late Richard Rogers and Ivan Harbour of architectural firm RSHP, is located on Knightsbridge and opens today (7th May 2024).
This is the group’s sixth hotel, including its two international properties The Maybourne Beverly Hills and The Maybourne Riviera, and has been in progress for nearly a decade.
The Emory aims to herald a new concept in hospitality, where service and interior design deliver the same unique feeling of intimacy and calm associated with luxury residential settings, including a discreet private entrance on Old Barrack Yard, a charming off street enclave, nestled between Belgravia and Knightsbridge.
With its striking ‘sails’ structure overlooking Hyde Park, this all-suite hotel boasts 61 light-filled suites set over nine floors including a spectacular penthouse designed by Rigby & Rigby.
Uniquely, each floor showcases the aesthetic of a different world class interior designer including Alexandra Champalimaud (pictured above), André Fu (pictured below), Pierre-Yves Rochon, Rémi Tessier and Patricia Urquiola.
United by their exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail, the spacious suites will offer guests a world of privacy set within an architectural wonder.
Heralding a new era in hospitality service standards, guests at The Emory will receive a return car transfer from London’s private airfields or international airports, daily English breakfast, in-suite private bar, access to a wellness club and 24 hr service from an EA, a personal Emory Assistant.
With an unparalleled 360 degree view of the capital, the hotel’s spectacular rooftop (see above image), designed by Tessier, will be the jewel in its crown – an entirely private, sweeping space dedicated to hotel guests and offering exclusive access to the intimate ‘Bar 33’ and The Emory Cigar Merchants.
The progressive spirit of The Emory is also showcased in the hotel’s culinary offering, with world famous chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten introducing his highly acclaimed ABC concept of fresh, local and conscious cuisine to London from his beloved Manhattan outpost.
For the very first time the menu will bring together Jean Georges’ NY legendary ‘Trilogy’ of abc kitchen, abcV and abc cocina.
Beneath ground, Serenne, a newly created innovative wellness space, with a 22 metre pool, will be set across four floors for guests of The Emory.
Renowned hotelier Knut Wylde is the appointed General Manager of The Emory in addition to his existing role as General Manager of The Berkeley.
Commenting on the addition of The Emory to Maybourne Hotel Group, CEO Gianluca Muzzi said “This is our first new London property in 50 years, and we believe it will be a truly ground breaking new addition to our distinguished hotel family.
“We plan to bring the inspiration and creative energy that have made our other hotels so notable, whilst also making The Emory a world class hub of art and culture.
“ This opening further cements our vision and commitment to growing Maybourne, and heralds a bold new future for the company.”
