Mallion & Knowles at HIX
HIX has become a must visit event for hoteliers and designers in hospitality.
As proud Media Partners we’re happy to promote it and to reveal their plans to inform, support and entertain visitors each year.
Of course, its main purpose is to provide a platform for product and service suppliers who wish meet with potential customers.
Exhibiting at trade shows can be a hit and miss business but HIX exhibitors seem particularly loyal to the show.
Specialist fabric design and print service, Mallion & Knowles, are returning to HIX and looking forward to showing their latest designs.
Here, we catch up with Ian Jenkinson of Mallion & Knowles to discover why exhibiting at HIX is so important to them.
GS Magazine (GS): Why have you decided to return to HIX?
Ian Jenkinson (IJ): This is actually our third visit to HIX. The event has enabled us to showcase our new designs to a targeted audience and to demonstrate how we can work alongside designers and architects in the hospitality sector.
GS: What makes Mallion & Knowles unique as a service?
IJ: Customers can have complete confidence in Mallion & Knowles knowing that we have an exceptional reputation for creating a bespoke design and print service. This allows our customers to include fabric designs that are ‘one-offs’ and unique to their projects. All our work is done in-house from our studios in Manchester so there are no third parties involved in the process.
GS: Are all your designs created as ‘one-off’ designs?
IJ: Not at all. We have an extensive range of designs that are available to select from and we’re regularly adding to them. Our top ten best-selling designs are Baroda, Zanzibar, Mika, Lava, Patina, Pavillion, Chelsea, Pompadour, Vinyard and Cubit.
GS: Do you get involved in the bespoke design process?
IJ: Not personally. We have an incredibly talented designer who liaises with our clients. He can hand-paint the most amazing designs, from standard patterns to intricate floral images.
GS: Who are your clients?
IJ: We have numerous designer customers who work across the spectrum. Many work for private clients on residential projects and many work in the commercial sector. Two of our more recent collaborations have been with Bergman Design House for a client in Vancouver, Canada, and with Studio Two for a restaurant project in Edinburgh called Somewhere by Nico. Hotel projects include the Coral Sands Hotel in the Bahamas and, much closer to home, we worked with local brewery J.W.Lees on one of their properties, a country manor house in Wilmslow near Manchester, called The Stanneylands.
GS: What makes HIX such an effective trade show for exhibitors?
IJ: For us, it’s the quality of visitors. We get to meet with buyers who are actively looking for new suppliers and ready to talk business. We know that we’ll leave the show with plenty of leads and contacts to follow up.
Mallion & Knowles will be at HIX, Business Design Centre, Islington, London on November 27th & 28th
