sketch’s Mayfair Flower Show
sketch remains one of the best venues in London. A restaurant that is constantly reinventing itself with interiors that change with the seasons.
Timorous Beasties, the Scottish-based avant-garde designers of printed patterns for fabrics and wallpapers, are participating in the fourth annual Mayfair Flower Show at sketch.
Inspired by the eighteenth-century tradition of a May-time fair in Westminster, the chosen theme for 2019 focuses on celebrating springtime in the city.
From Thursday 16th to Monday 27th May, the entirety of the famed gastro-brasserie restaurant undergoes a transformative makeover, turning the 18th-century townhouse into a series of immersive gardens to coincide with, and pay homage to, the esteemed Chelsea Flower Show.
Timorous Beasties has collaborated with luxury florist Figa & Co on sketch’s grand entrance to the show.
Known for imaginative and eclectic designs, Timorous Beasties are continually inspired by the often-brutal beauty of the natural world, so this is a perfect union.
A bespoke Birdbranch sofa in hand printed olive velvet, nestles in the entrance alcove, framed by stunning florals and foliage from Figa & Co.
Also featuring throughout the installation are various Timorous Beasties wallpaper designs such as Merian Palm, Tropical Clouded Leopard and Topical Tropical, all of which Figa & Co have drawn inspiration from to design and curate the mesmerising scheme.
Other floral designers who have contributed to sketch’s Mayfair Flower Show this year include French artist, Thierry Boutemy (see image above), who is highly regarded for his explosive contemporary floral design, pushing the boundaries of a previously under-appreciated art form.
