Radisson Collection launched the Palazzo Montemartini Rome last month. The historic hotel joins the prestigious collection of exceptional luxury hotels around the world, each with distinctive character and emphasis on local culture.
In style and setting, Palazzo Montemartini Rome is a true individual, embodying the essence of Radisson Collection, which combines great design with authentic flavour, a vibrant social scene and unique location.
The designers, King Roselli, were inspired by the building’s surroundings. For example, the Servian wall surrounding the building inspired the use of stone, a versatile material that is not only used as flooring but in the bathrooms and many of the public spaces as well.
The Baths of Diocletian inspired the presence of water throughout the entire hotel. From the swimming pool on the roof to fountains and channels within the building, with a natural conclusion in the spa. Water invades some spaces where it would not normally be present, for example the private pools in some of the rooms, or the table-fountains in the main lounge.
The exteriors and some of the interiors were protected by conservation orders, meaning the project wasn’t without challenges. The structure and the original internal arrangement was not immediately suitable for a hotel and with this in mind, as well as a conscious decision to offset an excess of ancient Roman references, many items of furnishings were designed as one-off pieces in a more contemporary style.
Offering 82 elegant rooms and suites, the hotel also is an ideal venue for events, thanks to versatile spaces for conferences and meetings. While the exclusive Senses Restaurant & Lounge Bar, that features classical columns and fountains, provides a theatrical backdrop in which to enjoy unique local flavours and an impressive view. The Champagne Bar also offers a selection of the best labels to be enjoyed in a breath-taking setting, with beautiful marble columns, a striking central fountain and peaceful garden.
A welcome addition to the premium collection, Elie Younes, Executive Vice President & Chief Development Officer said, “We couldn’t have asked for a more iconic destination than Rome to add a new Radisson Collection to the world. It’s a modern icon that respects the brand promise through its authenticity, design and exceptional service.”
