CADA, the international food-led design consultancy, have made a reputation by successfully converting redundant or lesser-used retail spaces into booming F&B facilities.
In the UK examples like IKEA, Greenwich and Primark, Birmingham are testament to this.
By converting some existing retail space into restaurants, cafés, bars, and counters, brands can create exciting customer-centric destinations that activate redundant, or lack-lustre space.
This is particularly helpful in a world where more customers are increasingly shopping online.
According to trend forecasters JLL Food Service, 40% of visitors base their choice of shopping centre on the dining options available, and that shoppers spend 12% more on retail when they eat out in a centre.
This is most likely true of the high street, too.
So ultimately, strong dining options help to build a compelling customer retail experience, increasing footfall, dwell time and revenue generation.
CADA redesigned the second floor restaurant and bar for Jarrold Department Store in Norwich, creating a seafood and champagne destination with views of the city.
This is the latest project in a longstanding collaboration between Jarrold and CADA.
CADA has collaborated with Jarrold in Norwich to transform its lower ground floor into a commercially successful food hall and deli, and its first floor café into an exciting Mediterranean all-day restaurant.
Their latest project is The Bay Seafood Bar.
Specialising in seafood and wine, The Bay Seafood Bar has been designed with a lightly aquatic theme, using natural materials such as wooden bar stools with a rattan seat, blue-glazed clay tiles and wall featuring traditional Norfolk flint, acknowledging the region’s history and design tradition.
To maximise the effectiveness of the space, CADA created arrangements of multi-level seating to help give each cluster its own unique feeling and atmosphere.
The space also features high windows and ceiling, which were exaggerated by reducing clutter and keeping the environment light and airy.
The Bay Seafood Bar is a seafood and wine bar, which is open throughout the day.
The restaurant specializes in freshly cured salmon, including Jarrold’s own brand smoked salmon, taster boards, fish pies, lobster bisque, and a luxurious caviar menu.
Their partnership with Jarrold has led to profitable transformations of a number of key hospitality spaces in their flagship department store.
