Sophia Loren’s eponymous restaurant launches in Florence
The partnership signed between Luciano Cimmino and the world famous Italian diva foresees a real development plan in Italy and abroad with a licensing agreement for a chain of venues.
First, Sophia Loren, a symbolic face of Italy, of its sincerity, of its passion.
Second, a seasoned entrepreneur who’s not finished with challenges.
On the contrary, he’s more enthusiastic than ever.
From an encounter with Sophia Loren and Luciano Cimmino a partnership is born, a chain of restaurants that saw its debut with the opening of the first venue on Monday 26th April in Florence.
Expansion plans will see the restaurant opening in Naples and Milan, then Dubai and Miami, followed by Hong Kong and Shanghai.
This flagship is a sophisticated and cozy restaurant, designed by Studio Redaelli & Associati in collaboration with Costa Group, a company who has specialized for more than 40 years in design and furnishing in the F&B sector.
In total there are more than 1500 square meters distributed over three floors, two of which are used as restaurants and one for kitchens and storage.
With 270 seats the venue offers restaurant service, a bar and cafeteria, plus a bakery and cocktail/wine bar.
The entrance is marked by pizza with the “Gold of Naples” that becomes the leitmotif of the entire architectural and spatial project.
With the face and body of Loren as inspiration, the art concept takes care of itself.
For example, Luigi Masecchia’s installation, a recreation of Sophia’s face using metal caps, and the work of Ernesto Tatafiore, who painted Sophia’s face on the underplates.
The pizzas on the menu are created by Francesco Martucci, voted best pizza chef in Italy in 2020 with the venue “I Masanielli” in Caserta, and the food is by Gennarino Esposito, a chef with 2 Michelin stars.
Of the restaurant, Sophia Loren says: “This new adventure is the natural evolution of my way of facing life with curiosity and enthusiasm.
“For me, living means making new experiences, getting passionate, experimenting, working on new projects.
“Because all this is a pretext to get back into the game, to keep learning.
“When they offered me to take part to this project, I had no doubts because this restaurant embodies some of the things I love most: Italian cuisine, shared moments related to it and also some of my characters are in some way linked to food”.
