Design firm create a SEEN in Bangkok
Bangkok’s latest, the new SEEN Restaurant & Bar, is a sensual playground of cuisine and cocktails rising above the Chao Phraya River.
With unrivalled skyline views, bold flavours, fantastical mixology and sultry beats, SEEN, located on the top floor of Avani+ Riverside Bangkok Hotel, is the place to be seen 26 floors above the city.
Originating in Sao Paolo, SEEN is the vision of Olivier da Costa, one of Portugal’s most successful ‘chef-preneurs’ and social scene doyen.
Opening a year after its Lisbon-based sister, da Costa’s, created waves with its mix of world cuisine and beat music this rooftop restaurant and lounge, with views of Bangkok’s glittering cityscape taking centre stage, is a mixture of modern-lux-meets-art deco, comprising of indoor-outdoor spaces, seating up to 185 guests.
In the main bar, bold interiors, a flowing installation and a starry surface underfoot aim to create a dreamlike and intimate setting.
In the garden, plush daybeds overlook the Chao Phraya river and hypnotic beats set the pulse, spun by a roster of jet-setting DJs selected by Music Director, Scotty B. Originally from the UK and a regular at the Ministry of Sound, Scotty B is a master of Nu-disco, soulful house and tech.
For exclusive events and functions, the more intimate and private 27th floor sky bar is accessed by a private glass lift opening to uninterrupted skyline views for up to 64 guests.
The iconic Avani+ Bangkok rooftop infinity pool also plays host to stylish pool parties.
The imaginative design is credited to London-based Marques & Jordi (M&J Group) and its CEO, Yu Jordy Fu, who is an internationally renowned designer, artist and architect.
She is also the Creative Director of the world’s largest fashion media company, Fashion TV.
M&J specializes in creating sensational spaces with maximum visual impact and memorable experiences.
According to their website “Our designs inspire and engage an emotional connection to the space, while simultaneously achieving reasonable costs and respecting even rapid deadlines”.
Without question SEEN has the visual impact and atmosphere to attract Bangkok’s elite party scene.
It’s also a great name for this kind of venue as it lends itself nicely to all kinds of clever headlines.
