GRAND PACIFIC, LEEDS: AN OPULENT HIDEAWAY IN THE HEART OF THE CITY
Raffles-inspired grandeur influenced the interior design of Grand Pacific, Leeds – the latest addition to The Living Ventures Group’s restaurant portfolio.
Situated in the iconic Queens Hotel Leeds, one of the grand railway hotels that has stood in the heart of the city for over 80 years, Living Ventures knew that they had to create a truly spectacular space for the latest Grand Pacific restaurant and bar.
Echoing the distinctive style of its twin predecessor in Manchester, the Leeds venue boasts a sumptuous interior reminiscent of the iconic Raffles Hotel in Singapore.
Paying homage to The Queens Hotel’s rich heritage, the Grand Pacific restaurant and bar is a ‘21st-century reincarnation of golden-age opulence’, merging the tropical influences of the Pacific with old-world grandeur.
The all-day restaurant and bar opened in August as part of the Grade II hotel’s £16 million refurbishment.
With deep button upholstery, ornate palm tree furnishings, and a luxurious colour palette of emerald and gold, Grand Pacific perfectly complements the hotel’s original art deco features.
Working closely with the owners and interior designers, Elektra Lighting provided the lighting design schemes, not just for the Grand Pacific restaurant and bar but for the other public spaces within the hotel including the reception, lobby, café, and a full redesign of the exterior façade lighting.
The jewel in the restaurant’s crown is a 15 foot bespoke chandelier, creating a show-stopping focal point.
The spectacular light-fitting adds a touch of contemporary flair to the regal space and that all important ‘Instagram-worthy’ moment.
The 40 seat bar area is illuminated by a grand palm tree light fixture and looks through to the main restaurant area.
Decorative table-top lamps were added to create warm pockets of light, creating a low-level 1920s-style ambience.
Decorative details such as ornamental pineapples, crystal light fixtures, and ornate, gilded gold mirrors were added to accentuate the lavish and eclectic style.
Paul Moran, Living Ventures’ Managing Director, commented: “Grand Pacific epitomises timeless, classic luxury.
“The interior design needed to reflect its sumptuous yet relaxed atmosphere – fusing tropical elegance with golden twenties splendour.
“It was a pleasure to bring this space to life as one of Leeds’ finest restaurants.”
