Restaurateur, Des McDonald, kicks off the project with "On the Roof with Q", a restaurant with lush herbaceous borders and dense foliage, coupled with an assortment of country garden accessories, aimed at creating an established, secret garden, effect.
Throughout the summer and as a part of the Q concept, a programme of talks and event from leading chefs, producers, innovators and influencers will be hosted on the roof, coupled with a serving of healthy dishes from Daisy Lowe's new cookbook. Designed by Alexander Waterworth Interiors, the main inspiration for the venue has been taken from grand Victorian greenhouses, and during the inevitable British downpours a retractable glass roof helps to create more of a greenhouse atmosphere.
The all day menu offers high quality seasonal produce either grilled, smoked or from the raw counter. Lighter dishes include fresh seafood and super-food salads, a range of savoury tarts and a variety of English puddings including strawberries and cream and Apple pie. The bar, open throughout the day, serves a selection of wines, jugs of Pimms, cocktails and award-winning English sparkling wine from the Gusbourne Estate.
